Volunteers

Volunteers

Volunteers are truly the backbone of Chehalem Senior Center and play a major role in community development across the Chehalem Valley.

Musicians

Chehalem Senior Center is seeking talented musicians to perform before the lunch hour. Shifts are available from 11 a.m. to noon on weekdays. Volunteer once a week, once a month, or give it a try before you commit. We can't pay you for your talent, but welcome you to join us for lunch. Interested? Contact Matthew Compton at slarison@cprdnewberg.org or call (503) 537-9404.

Meals on Wheels- Drivers Wanted

Shifts are available Monday through Friday -10:00 to Noon.
Call (503) 538-1490 to schedule an interview
Volunteers deliver hot, nutritious lunchtime meals to fourteen to sixteen homebound elderly or disabled clients who can no longer prepare balanced meals for themselves. But perhaps as important as delivering meals to seniors, is delivering a smiling face.  Many homebound seniors are lonely and our volunteer drivers are sometimes the only social contact that these seniors will have that day.  Many delivery volunteers take a little time with each senior to visit and provide much needed conversation.

The first step in becoming a Meals on Wheels Volunteer is to schedule an orientation/interview with our Meal Site Coordinator. From there you will need to fill out an application and being willing to submit and pass a Criminal History Background Check. After that is all taken care of, we will have you shadow another driver for a trip or two until you feel ready to take a route on your own.

Office volunteers needed

Our office personnel are seen as the heart of our community center. Please aid us in making a good first impression. If you are interested in becoming a member of our office personnel, please inquire at the registration desk or call (503) 537-9404
