Creating a vision

Planning is underway to set a vision for the future of Ewing Young Park. Community input will be essential in the design process. Chehalem Park and Recreation District has hired WH Pacific to develop the park masterplan. CPRD and WHPacific will co-host this initial public meeting to share site analysis that has been completed, and to invite discussion and introduce ideas to set a vision for continued park development. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend.

It is CPRD’s intention to work closely with park neighbors and the broader community, to consider the recreational needs and concerns of the residents, while respecting the natural resources of the park.

About the park

Ewing Young Park has changed over the years. Today, features include Chehalem Skatepark, Chehalem BMX track, the disc golf course, Newberg’s only dog park, and the playground. About 1.5 miles of new trail follow the perimeter of the park, through woods and alongside Chehalem Creek. This creek flows through the middle of the park, separating the open meadow with its disc golf course from the 11-acre undeveloped land on the other side of the creek.
