Dominoes

Every Monday at 10:00 a.m.
One, two, three, four…don’t let the dominoes hit the floor! In this train-style dominoes game, participants try to play all their tiles, building domino chains from the center hub. Will you be the first one to place all your tiles on the train or will you be among the many left with a handful of tiles and an ego full of doubt? No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Crafty Ladies and Gents

Every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. 
Let’s get crafty! Come join us for a morning of creativity, laughter, and love. In this activity, there’s no limit to our imaginations, as we craft and create items that bring us joy. Bring your own projects to work on in the company of others or maybe learn something new. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Pinochle Club

Every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. 
Gettin’ tricky with it? Join us on Wednesdays for a morning of fun and excitement, while we play one of the most fun card games around – pinochle. This game can be played with 2-4 players, who attempt to score points by trick-taking and combining cards into melds for points. You will partner with another participant, as you learn how to play this fun and interactive game. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Senior Book Club

The Third Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. 
To the ladies and gents – it’s time to commence. Grab a book at the NOOK and let’s talk some sense. Every third Wednesday, join us to talk about the book of the month. We will spend the hour talking about the characters we love, the stories we admire, and the experiences we’ve had in our own lives that relate to the narratives that inspire us today. EBooks provided by the library on NOOKs that can be checked out from the Senior Center. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Chehalem Valley Sawdusters

Every Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
Hobbyists and woodworkers are invited to join this woodworkers group located at the Chehalem Valley Middle School.  Handcrafters of any skill level, who are interested in an opportunity to gain new skills and enjoy the company of a peer group with a common focus are encouraged to attend. The initial aim of this group will be to build and provide wooden toys for the local community. New participants can come check us out for free, but returning ones must pay the annual membership fee of $35/year. Please contact the Senior Center for more information and to sign up to attend.

China Painters Club

Every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. 
Come join us in the ancient art of painting on porcelain! We love to share ideas and techniques and teach others the joy we have for it. Participants will learn how to use China paints to add color and design to ceramics. Following a brief history of China painting and its accomplished artists, participants will learn about china painting materials and processes. Some basic supplies are available for new participants but we will discuss what is needed for an individual’s china painting kit and where to purchase supplies. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Mahjong Club

Every Thursday at 10:30 a.m
Travel across the Pacific Ocean and explore the wonderful world of Mahjong. This 19th century Chinese tile game has risen in popularity across the world and can now be played in Newberg, Oregon every Thursday morning. Put your skill and strategy to the test, as you form rummy-type sets with tiles in your efforts to win the hand. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Tai Chi

Every Thursday at 1:30 p.m. 
Tai Chi is a meditative form of gentle, flowing exercise that has its roots in Chinese tradition. This group is geared toward more advanced practitioners and is not taking beginners at this time.

Pool Cues Club

Every Friday at 9:00 a.m. 
Fridays Take your cue from us! Come to the Senior Center every Friday morning for a few hours of fun and friendship at the pool table. During this morning session, participants have the opportunity to play pocket billiards with others in attendance. We promise to have fun and fair games – so bring your hustle. This is a great group for new and skilled players alike. Tournaments are held the last Friday of every month at 10 a.m. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Hand and Foot Card Game

Every Friday at 10:00 a.m. 
Interested in a new brain challenge? Join this group in a fun game of cards similar to canasta which uses a combination of strategy, skill, and luck. No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Elderberry Jam Choir

Every Friday at 1:00 p.m. 
“All you need is love” …and a place to sing! Help us fill the room with the magic of music and voices, as we spend an hour singing our favorite tunes. Every Friday, we will gather to sing oldies and hymns that bring joy to our hearts. Everyone is welcome! No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.

Line Dancing

Every Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Grab your boots and get ready to scoot! Join us for a fun form of exercise that will make you sweat as you follow along with other dancers in a line. Partner not required, boots and hats optional! No reservation required; drop-ins welcome.
