World's largest and oldest tree clone planted at Ewing Young Park

Tree planting

The State of Oregon, Chehalem Park and Recreation District, and the City of Newberg came together May 5th to plant the exact genetic duplicate of the world’s largest and oldest champion coast Redwood tree.

The nonprofit organization Archangel Ancient Tree Archive gifted 100 trees to the people of Oregon, and through Representative Bill Post, the State of Oregon chose Newberg as a viable location to plant one Redwood tree. The remainder of the trees will be planted throughout the state. It is the mission of Archangel Ancient Tree Archive to propagate the world’s most important old growth trees before they are gone.

You can check out this special little tree starting to grow between the skatepark and the picnic table shelter.
