Start your football journey with the Newberg Tiger Youth Flag Program! Now enrolling players from Kindergarten – 2nd grade and 3rd – 4th grade.
Registration Period: May 7, 2025 – August 18, 2025
Game Location: Home games will be held Saturday mornings on the NHS turf field
Program Cost: $116
Team Formation:
- Teams will be comprised of approximately 10 players.
- Games will follow a 5 vs. 5 format.
- A coaches' meeting is scheduled for September 3 at 6:00 PM at the CPRD District Office (125 S Elliot Avenue).
- Coaches will notify parents of team placements via email by September 5. If you have not received an email by September 6, please contact Nicole Lewelling at nlewelling@cprdnewberg.org.
Equipment:
- Provided: Team jersey and flag belt with flags.
- Required: Football or soccer cleats (games will be played on artificial turf).
- Optional: Gloves, elbow pads, and knee pads.
- Players' jerseys must remain tucked into pants or shorts if they extend beyond the belt line.
- Pee Wee-sized footballs (K-2) and Junior-sized footballs (3rd-4th) will be provided for practices and games.
Practice & Game Schedule:
Practices start the week of September 9 and will occur twice per week for one hour (schedule determined by the coach).
Games will be held every Saturday for six weeks, beginning September 20, against Newberg and other local teams.
Game Format:
- Games will consist of two 20-minute halves (40 minutes total, running time) with a five-minute halftime.
- No scores or standings will be recorded; all players will receive equal playtime.
- The head coach is responsible for enforcing program rules.
- Games will be played across the football field, measuring 50 yards long by 20 yards wide, without end zones, and marked with colored cones.
- Each team has four downs to achieve a first down, and substitutions may occur freely.
- Flags must be worn on the outside of the jersey, positioned on both sides of the body and at the rear at all times.
- Intentional contact, such as blocking, shielding, or pushing, is strictly prohibited.
- Once a player's flag is pulled, the opposing player must stop immediately and raise the flag in the air.
