CPRD mourns loss of Janis Sander, donor of Sander Estate

Chehalem Park and Recreation District mourns the loss of the longtime parks supporter and legacy donor Janis Sander, who passed away on Jan. 22nd. 

Jan worked with Chehalem Park & Recreation and its nonprofit Chehalem Park Foundation, in order to develop her Dundee property into park features and walking trails, which has recently begun. Jan would often comment, “…for the citizens of Dundee.” Jan attended and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 13, 2025.

According to her obituary as published in the Portland Tribune, Jan passed peacefully January 22, 2026 and is buried with the rest of her family at Dundee Pioneer Cemetery, which she and her family invested so much time and effort to develop, maintain and manage over many years. Jan will be missed and remembered for her generosity.
