Parks
The District has over eighteen developed parks varying in size and
amenities. Take time to enjoy all of the parks from dawn to dusk unless
posted otherwise. Disc Golf is available at Herbert Hoover Park (10
holes) and Ewing Young Park (12 holes) during park hours. Park shelter
rentals become available after January 1st of each calendar year.
Park Shelter
Park shelters and centers can be rented for parties, reunions,
graduation, weddings, business meetings, etc., but please remember that
parks will be open to the public; only shelters can be rented for
exclusive use. Reservations are taken starting January first for that
calendar year. Applications are located at the Chehalem Aquatic Center,
1802 Haworth Ave., Newberg. A small fee is charged in order to reserve
a shelter or park area.
Park Donations
The Chehalem Park and Recreation District is thankful for those who
give back to their community. Without them, many of our parks would not
exist. Park land has been donated and many companies and individuals
have given time, energy and supplies to enhance the community in which
we live. Leaving a legacy to your community is an unselfish act for
future generations to benefit. If you are interested in donating,
please contact the District Office. All donations are tax deductible.
Skate Park
The Chehalem Skate Park is located at 1201 S. Blaine St., in Newberg,
just south of the Newberg Animal Control Shelter The skate
park
is open year round from dawn to dusk, weather permitting. (The surface
of the park has to be completely dry for safety) the skate park will
close under wet conditions. Helmets are mandatory and must be worn
while skating at the park. During the summer a concessions stand is on
the premises. The park is equipped with bleachers, covered picnic area
and a children’s playground. The park manager lives on site.
Park
rules are posted and enforced.
BMX Track
The Chehalem BMX track is located next to the Chehalem Skate Park. It
operates from spring through fall, weather permitting. The track has to
be dry and is closed during inclement weather. Helmets are mandatory
while riding the track, long sleeve shirts and pants are recommended,
pads and safety equipment are always encouraged, and rules are posted
at the track and enforced. The Chehalem BMX Track is a nationally
certified ABA (American BMX Association) track. The track is closed to
the public while the BMX Club is conducting races. For more information
